Travel Tips for Jaisalmer by Car from Delhi

• Leave Delhi by 5 AM to 6 AM. This gets you past the Delhi-Haryana border before peak morning traffic and puts you in Jaisalmer before sunset.
• On the Bikaner route, the Rajasthan highways have cattle and camels on the road at night. Avoid driving after 9 PM on these roads.
• Carry a photo ID for all adults. It is needed for hotel check-in and desert camp entry.
• Pack one warm layer per person even in October. Desert nights are cold.
• The Sam Dunes are busiest between 3 PM and 6 PM. For a less crowded camel safari, start at 2 PM.
• ATM coverage in Jaisalmer city is fine. At Sam Dunes there are no ATMs. Carry cash for any on-site activities.
• If travelling October to November or February to March, book the desert camp at least 7 to 10 days in advance. Camps fill up on weekends.
